How OneClick Resolved Mac Shutdown Issues and Restored Email Access Through Remote Support

The Challenge We Faced

Sarah Thompson contacted OneClick Technologies after her Apple Mac repeatedly shut down while using the Pages application. She also experienced email access issues and needed help configuring her Brother wireless printer, so our technician performed a complete remote diagnostic session to identify and resolve all reported issues.

Before the remote session could begin, Safari browser issues prevented the support application from downloading and had to be resolved. Once connected, our technician found the Mac had only approximately 100 MB of free storage, along with unnecessary files, unused applications, an unused user profile, and outdated HP printer software, all contributing to the system problems and requiring a complete cleanup.

How OneClick Technologies LLC Resolved the Issue

After identifying the cause of the problem, our technician carried out a structured remote support session to restore the Mac's performance and resolve every issue reported by the customer.
Established the Remote Session

Because the remote support application was not downloading correctly through Safari, the browser cache and cookies were cleared, Safari settings were reset, and browser adjustments were completed. Once this was done, the technician successfully connected to the customer’s Mac.

Performed Storage Cleanup

The technician inspected the storage usage and confirmed that only about 100 MB of free space remained.

To recover storage space:

  • Unnecessary files were deleted.
  • The Trash was emptied.
 Removed Unused Applications

With the customer’s approval, several applications that were no longer needed were removed from the Mac, including:

  • CCleaner
  • CleanMyMac
  • Webroot
  • Malwarebytes
  • Sudoku
  • Other unused applications

Removing these applications helped free additional storage and reduced unnecessary software on the system.

Configured the Brother Wireless Printer

The customer also requested assistance with the Brother printer.

The technician:

  • Verified the existing printer configuration.
  • Removed unused printer entries.
  • Reconfigured the Brother wireless printer.
  • Performed a successful test print to confirm proper operation.
Removed the Unused User Profile

During the session, the customer confirmed that a secondary user account was no longer required.

After receiving approval, the technician safely removed the unused user profile and its associated data from the Mac.

Performed System Maintenance

To ensure the Mac’s file system was functioning correctly, Disk Utility was used to run the First Aid process.

The technician also removed unused HP printer software that was no longer required on the computer.

  • CCleaner
  • CleanMyMac
  • Webroot
  • Malwarebytes
  • Sudoku
  • Other unused applications

Removing these applications helped free additional storage and reduced unnecessary software on the system.

Installed an Alternative Browser

Mozilla Firefox was installed as an additional web browser and added to the Dock beside Safari for convenient access.

Restored Email Access

The customer’s email access issue was resolved by restoring access to the email accounts and confirming that they were functioning correctly before completing the support session.

Final Verification

After all maintenance work was completed, the Mac was restarted to apply the changes.

The technician verified that:

  • The Pages application was working normally.
  • The unexpected shutdown issue had been resolved.
  • The Brother wireless printer was functioning correctly.
  • Email access had been restored.
  • The browsers were operating normally.
  • Overall system performance was functioning properly.

Removing these applications helped free additional storage and reduced unnecessary software on the system.
