The Challenge We Faced

James Wilson contacted OneClick Technologies because his Windows PC was running slowly and appeared to be running low on storage. The system was dealing with limited disk capacity and too many startup and background processes, which were consuming available resources.

The technician carried out a broader system tune-up instead of simply deleting a few files. The work covered system cleanup, Windows file checks, updates, disk optimization, startup management, unwanted software removal, browser maintenance, OneDrive configuration, and an Outlook issue that appeared while reorganizing the stored data.

How OneClick Technologies Improved the System

The technician worked through the storage and performance issues step by step, then addressed the Outlook problem that appeared during the process.

Step 1

Created a Restore Point and Cleaned Up Files

Before making system changes, the technician created a restore point to provide a recovery option.

Temporary files, junk data, and unnecessary system files were then removed to recover available storage.

  • Created a System Restore Point.
  • Deleted temporary files.
  • Removed junk and unnecessary files.
  • Ran the Windows cleanmgr utility.
  • Removed unnecessary system files.
  • Recovered available storage space.
Step 2

Checked System Files and Updated Windows

The technician checked Windows system-file integrity and installed available Windows updates.

Disk optimization was also performed as part of the maintenance work.

  • Ran SFC /SCANNOW.
  • Checked for corrupted Windows system files.
  • Repaired system-file issues where identified.
  • Installed available Windows updates.
  • Performed disk defragmentation.
  • Brought the system up to date.
Step 3

Tuned Performance and Removed Unwanted Programs

The technician adjusted the PC's resource usage and startup behavior to reduce unnecessary load.

A few unwanted programs were also removed during the cleanup.

  • Increased virtual memory allocation.
  • Disabled unwanted startup applications.
  • Reduced unnecessary startup activity.
  • Removed PC Help Soft Driver Update.
  • Removed CCleaner.
  • Reduced unnecessary resource usage during startup.
Step 4

Maintained the Browsers and Reorganized Storage

The browsers were reset and updated, but the PC still had limited storage after the initial cleanup.

To address this, OneDrive was reinstalled and configured to use the D drive, allowing the customer's files to be moved away from the C drive.

  • Reset Microsoft Edge.
  • Updated Microsoft Edge.
  • Reset Google Chrome.
  • Updated Google Chrome.
  • Reinstalled and reconfigured OneDrive.
  • Changed OneDrive's primary storage location to the D drive and moved the files successfully.
Step 5

Reconfigured Outlook and Verified Everything

After the files were moved, the Outlook data-file location also needed to be changed.

A password issue appeared during the process, but the technician reset the password, restored the previous Outlook data file, and confirmed that Outlook was working correctly.

  • Updated the Outlook data-file location.
  • Encountered an issue with the existing password.
  • Reset the password.
  • Re-added the previous Outlook data file.
  • Verified that Outlook was functioning properly.
  • Confirmed that everything was working correctly.

Before & After

After 2–2.5 hours of system cleanup and optimization, the C drive had 69 GB of free space, the storage issue was resolved, and Outlook was restored and confirmed to be working properly.
